Bolo Early Learning Stage 1 My First Urdu Words flash card box

Will your child be too embarrassed to speak Urdu?

You've seen it happen before.

Your friend's 5-year-old who only responds in English when asked a question in Urdu.

The awkward silence when your nephew meets his cousins in Pakistan and can't join their chatter.

The shy nod instead of the giggle when Nana tells his famous jokes.

We're losing our mother tongue,

one generation at a time.

We move abroad to give them a better life, but the reality is that Urdu simply isn't part of their daily world.

While English surrounds them everywhere – at nursery, on TV, with friends – Urdu gets pushed to special occasions and phone calls with family.
No wonder our children feel awkward with it. They haven't had the chance to make it theirs.

But what if Urdu became as natural as playtime?

At Bolo, we're here to nurture a love for Urdu from the very start. These aren't just Urdu flash cards – they're your child's daily Urdu moments

How to use our Urdu Flash Cards

From first sounds at 6 months to naming objects at age 4, your child will interact with our Urdu flashcards in new ways at each developmental stage.

OUR STORY

Why I created Bolo

I’m Alina, a Pakistani mom living in Dubai. My husband and I – like many others in our circle – are fluent in Urdu, but feel more at ease speaking to one another in English at home.

Once my daughter was born, I realized that unless I made an intentional effort to make Urdu a part of daily life, she would never pick it up.

Bolo Urdu flash cards are my way of preserving the language in our home. It’s for families like mine, who want their kids to be able to enjoy all the Urdu language has to offer and feel at home in both languages.

FAQS

Each box includes 50 Urdu flashcards across 5 categories, plus a printed usage guide explaining how to use them from 6 months to 4 years.

These cards are designed to grow with your child—from 6 months up to 4 years. The included guide shows how to adapt play based on your child’s developmental stage.
Fifty cards strike the perfect balance: enough variety to build a strong foundation in everyday vocabulary, without overwhelming your child (or you!). The set includes 5 essential categories—each carefully chosen for early language development—and gives you room to repeat, rotate, and explore at your child’s pace.
Each card is 4x6 inches—big enough for babies to focus on, but easy for toddlers to hold.
The cards are matte laminated for durability and wipe-clean protection. While not fully waterproof, they can handle light messes from curious little hands.  We use thick 350gsm card stock with rounded corners for safety and durability as well.

Not at all. Children are natural language learners. In fact, bilingualism enhances brain development and cognitive flexibility.

Yes! You can adapt the interaction to each child’s level—from simple naming games to storytelling and matching.

That’s okay! Our Urdu flash cards include Roman Urdu to help with pronunciation. It’s a great way for both you and your child to learn together.

Yes, our Urdu flash cards are designed with clear visuals, one concept per card, and tactile-friendly materials to promote independent learning and language association.

We also use real, photo-based images—no cartoons or illustrations. This helps your child connect what they see on the card to real life, which is especially helpful in the early stages of learning. It’s a Montessori-inspired approach that makes language learning feel natural.

Most early learning Urdu products have three big challenges:

1. They’re not designed for parents abroad.

They use only Urdu script, which can be difficult for parents and kids who are more comfortable reading English. Our cards include Roman Urdu to make learning accessible and natural for every family.

2. They’re small and flimsy.

We’ve made ours large, sturdy, and laminated — perfect for little hands to hold, explore, and engage with.

3. They’re not visually engaging.

We’ve designed Bolo cards to be beautiful — with clear, photo-realistic images and soft, modern design — so they look inviting to children and stylish enough to gift or leave out on a shelf.
